Working with companies such as BNSF, BP and Caterpillar, we have learned 2 simple facts about corporations which have superlative safety cultures:

  • They provide safety training on issues beyond the workplace. If they can get employees to think of safety when driving on the freeway to work, playing with their kids, or just turning on the stove at home, just imagine how conscious of hazards they will be when performing higher risk task at work.

  • The safety drive is a never-ending commitment from the top down. There must be 100% buy-in and commitment from the Executive Team.

Your company has been awarded a new contract to provide a revolutionary carbon-neutral Employee Transport Vehicle to a large worksite

How it works: The group will be broken up into seven to ten-person teams (this number can change based on the amount of participants). Each team will be responsible for servicing the needs of its new customer and performing a complete overhaul of the new Employee Transport Vehicle (in reality a bicycle). It is your Team’s assignment to prepare your work site, procure all replacement parts/tools, and then complete the re-build. Time is critical as your client needs this new transportation vehicle in service as quickly as possible and has given you a tight deadline. Please astonish this customer with an early delivery. You must however accomplish this goal while adhering to our stated safety values. The Service Team which completes this assignment in the least amount of time will receive a bonus.
